About Soraya Mire...
Screenwriter, Activist, Director, Actor, Producer Soraya Mire' is an award winning screenwriter, director, actor and producer of stage and documentary projects. Her credits include writing featured segments of "The Vagina Monologues on FGM" and executive producing several notable documentaries, including "Fire Eyes" which highlights the barbaric practice of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). Mire' was born in Somalia, where she spent her early years before immigrating to Europe in 1979. She attended Domain Universitaire in Grenoble, France, obtaining bachelors degrees in Political Science and French Literature. After moving to the United States in July 1984 she began her film career, working in several production studios, while attending UCLA Film School. In 1993, she founded "Persistent Productions", a company specializing in social conscious films that highlight globally significant women's issues. FGM
